Fuel quality monitoring annual reports

Trading Standards prepares annual fuel quality monitoring reports which give an overview of the results of the previous year's testing programme.

Annual reports

Within the framework of the national Fuel Quality Monitoring Programme, Trading Standards conducts testing on samples of petrol, diesel, biofuel, and marine fuels (as of 2022) to ensure New Zealand fuel retailers and suppliers comply with the Engine Fuel Specifications Regulations 2011 (the Regulations or EFSR) and that fuel is fit for purpose.

An annual report is produced summarising the results of the testing conducted from July to June.

Our extensive archive of Fuel Quality Monitoring annual reports spans 13 years. Although these reports are primarily technical and intended for experts in the fuel industry, they also serve as evidence to validate the high quality of New Zealand’s fuel supply.
